Lessons for Life
Our blog articles uncover the pattern for guaranteed success found in scripture. Read the posts below and begin living the successful life you were created for.
Not Overcome
Last week we discussed the reality that sometimes in our time journey, we are overwhelmed by the tough situations and circumstances of our lives. Why do these overwhelming circumstances not completely overcome us? Scripture answers this question in 2 Corinthians 4:18. How do we maintain victory in the storm that rages around us? We focus on eternity, eternality, and on our personal eternalness.
The Unseen Realm is Eternal
Our challenging and overwhelming circumstances, situations, and relational experiences are temporary. They are the substance (the physical matter) that produce or create in us an eternal, weighty glory, and provide an outcome/experience that is far beyond all comparison when viewed from the temporary vantage point of time.
The Spirit Gives Life
The body does not give our spirit life, it is our spirit that gives our body life. In some ways, our body could be considered a disposable product. It is not designed or meant to last forever. Scripture says it wears out and becomes frail and increasingly challenging as we age. But our spirit grows stronger and stronger as our body ages.
Before I Formed You
The Holy Spirit God through Jeremiah said this about the different stages of our eternity. He provides a picture of how the different stages/components of our eternity (before here, here and now, and forever hereafter) impact our purpose, and our charge on the earth in and through the different stage of our eternity and our personal eternalness forever.
Complete Eternity
Understanding each component of eternality, and its purpose and influence on our complete eternity, and on our personal eternalness, will make our journey more understandable, more enjoyable, and we can address and navigate each component more effectively and more accurately.
Everything In Its Time
He has made everything beautiful in its time. He also has planted eternity in men's hearts and minds [a divinely implanted sense of a purpose working through the ages which nothing under the sun but God alone can satisfy], yet so that men cannot find out what God has done from the beginning to the end. -Ecclesiastes 3:11 AMPC
Fulfillment Comes From Eternity
Nothing that is based in time will satisfy our longing for fulfillment and for accomplishment. Only our acknowledgement, our engagement, and our pursuit of our created and designed, eternal purpose will provide real fulfillment, because that is why we are, and why we are here.
Fully Engaged
Are you a jet fighter? Or a puddle jumper? Why do so few of us take advantage of the fullness of power freely offered to us in the Kingdom? I have been a pilot for over fifty years (since the Vietnam War), and still think like a pilot. The following metaphor has played in my mind regarding the power available to us in the Kingdom, and our failure to engage and appropriate it.
God's Plan
He has given us a plan. His plan is the Kingdom System and the realm, the power, and the authority that engages through us and for us. We really are more than conquerors and in every situation, we are made to triumph through Jesus and His total order for us, His Kingdom realm.
Eternal Perspective: Nicodemus
This week, let's take a look at another famous passage where Jesus participates in a paradigm-shattering, eternity-focused conversation -- this time with Nicodemus in John 3. Many of us have read parts or the whole of this passage perhaps thousands of times, but let's look at it again today with the fresh eyes of eternity.
Eternal Perspective: The Well
We must learn to live and to have our being in the Kingdom Realm of eternity if we are to experience the joy, the pleasure and the success that was planned for us before we were born. We must learn to present and share the Good News based on eternity like Jesus did.
Temporal Perspective
In our previous blog, we discussed the distinction between spirit, mind, and body. Many people today prioritize the upkeep and beautification of their body, to the detriment and neglect of their mind and spirit. This body-consciousness often borders on obsession. But what does our Creator and Designer have to say about this?
